Unilock Construction in Nuevo, CA | Briar Contractors
We install, repair, and replace Unilock paver systems across Nuevo’s rural parcels, from long private driveways to barn aprons and shop pads. The part most people don’t plan for is what’s under the pavers, not the pavers themselves. Call (833) 467-4442 for a free estimate.
This is the page that tells you how Unilock pavers actually perform on Nuevo’s well-and-septic lots, where a driveway project is really a site-work project before the first paver goes down. We’re an independent contracting crew, not a Unilock dealer, and our Unilock sales & service experience comes from field work, not showroom training.
Why Nuevo Residents Choose Us for Unilock Service
Noel Carrasco grew up in the Shadow Hills neighborhood of Indio, where half the houses on his street were built right and the other half taught him what not to do. That early filter stuck. We apply it to every Unilock project in Nuevo.
We’ve placed Unilock pavers on rural lots throughout Nuevo service area for years. We know how Brussels Block ages under Perris Valley sun. We know which polymeric sands hold in Santa Ana wind. And we know that a base course built for a tract-home driveway in Moreno Valley will rut under a horse trailer in Nuevo. When you’re on well and septic, the driveway is the first thing heavy equipment crosses, and the last thing you want to redo.
We use genuine Unilock pavers, edge restraints, and joint sands for any repair or addition. For base course and drainage fabric, we select aftermarket aggregate that meets or exceeds spec – because the base is the project, and the brand on the paver doesn’t matter if the ground under it gives way.

Common Unilock Construction Problems We Solve in Nuevo
- Paver migration and joint sand loss. Long, unshaded driveways in Nuevo bake under summer sun that softens some polymeric sands and then get scoured by Santa Ana winds. The fix is usually deeper edge restraint and a different joint sand, not a full tear-out.
- Efflorescence on Brussels Block and tumbled pavers. Seasonal downpours hit before base compaction is finished on graded acreage, and water pushes minerals up through the paver face. It looks like a defect. It’s usually drainage.
- Edge restraint failure at the barn or shop transition. We see this constantly: the driveway holds fine, then the section where a loaded trailer or feed truck crosses onto the shop pad starts rutting. The base wasn’t engineered for wheel loads at that transition.
- Thermal lippage on dark Unilock pavers. Direct sun on dark-colored pavers causes expansion, and if joint sand hasn’t been maintained, edges start to lift slightly. It’s not frost heave – it’s heat, and Nuevo gets plenty of it.
- Driveway base failure over utility lines. When a paver driveway crosses a well line or leach field, settling shows up in a straight line right along the pipe. That’s a base-depth and compaction issue, not a paver failure.
Unilock Service in Nuevo: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
In Nuevo, most Unilock paver driveways aren’t a straight run from the street. They cross a private well line, a septic leach field, or a graded swale. We have to design base depth and drainage around underground utilities that aren’t on any city map. In neighboring Perris or Moreno Valley, a contractor pulls the utility map and digs. Out here on unincorporated land near the Perris Valley, the county has records, but rural lots carry decades of undocumented trench work. That means we hand-spot every utility before we excavate, and we build the base so a future repair doesn’t mean tearing out half the driveway.
On a multi-acre parcel off Nuevo Road, a homeowner wanted a Unilock Brussels Block driveway that ran 300 feet past the well head and septic tank to a new metal shop. Our crew excavated through the existing ranch drive, found the septic line shallower than expected, and re-graded the base with a 6-inch compacted aggregate section and a channel drain before laying the pavers so the Santa Ana winds wouldn’t scour the joints. The finished drive ties into the shop apron and has held through two summers of 100-degree heat with no sand loss.
Unilock Models & Products We Service in Nuevo
We install and repair the full line of Unilock residential pavers, with most Nuevo projects built on Brussels Block, Beacon Hill, Town Hall, and Copthorne. Brussels Block is our most common recommendation for long driveways because the tumbled finish hides joint sand variation under heavy sun. Beacon Hill works well for patios and walkways where you want a more formal edge. Town Hall and Copthorne handle larger format looks on shop aprons and outdoor living spaces.
When a customer only needs part of a driveway replaced, we match the existing Unilock paver and the original joint sand tone as closely as production runs allow. If a section has failed only at the joints, we re-sand and re-compact. If the base is compromised, we recommend selective replacement rather than tearing out good paver above good base.

Base depth, drainage, utility hand-digging, and paver line all factor in. We write a line-item quote so you see exactly where your money goes, and the estimate is free. If it’s not built for 115 degrees, it’s not built for here. Call (833) 467-4442 and we’ll walk the lot with you.

FAQs – Unilock Construction in Nuevo
Yes, but the base design changes. Pavers themselves don’t harm a leach field, but you cannot over-compact the soil above drain lines, and any base material must allow percolation. We design a lighter compacted lift over the leach field zone and avoid heavy aggregate, so the field stays functional and the pavers stay level. Call (833) 467-4442 to have us look at your property.
The pavers hold fine. The joint sand is what fails. Santa Ana winds strip loose joint sand and then the pavers start to shift. We use polymeric sands rated for high wind exposure and re-sand before the windy season. On a long rural driveway, we also set edge restraint deeper than standard because the wind has more surface area to work with.
Riverside County generally does not require a building permit for paver driveways, but anything that changes drainage, crosses a swale, or affects a septic system may need review. We’re an independent Unilock service provider, not manufacturer-affiliated, and we handle the county paperwork on site work where it’s needed. Call (833) 467-4442 and we’ll tell you what your lot requires.
That’s efflorescence, and in Nuevo it shows up when downpours hit before the base is fully compacted or drainage is finished. Water moves through the aggregate, picks up minerals, and wicks up through the pavers. It’s cosmetic and usually washes or brushes off, but if it keeps coming back, the fix is drainage, not the paver surface.
We can match the line and the size, and we’ll match the color as closely as current production runs allow. Older pavers have sun-bleached slightly, so an exact match is never perfect. We blend the repair zone by pulling pavers from less visible areas when the layout allows it. Exact matching on Brussels Block is easier than on some smooth-faced lines. Call (833) 467-4442 for a free estimate and we’ll bring samples to the lot.
